Predicting future GB heat pump electricity demand

چکیده

To meet net zero carbon targets by 2050s, countries with cold winters, such as Great Britain (GB), will turn to low domestic heating systems electric heat pumps. In this paper, a statistical model is developed using measured performance data from over 550 pumps installed in GB homes 2012. The used predict the additional load on electricity generation and distribution infrastructure for various current future (2050) climates, dwelling energy efficiencies pump deployment scenarios. For year 2020s, 100% uptake of existing stock gave peak demand 78 GW an annual 189 TWh. When added other, demand, represents increase excess around 60%. Making reasonable assumptions about pumps’ efficiency use, climate fabric efficiency, assuming 80% no shifting, 2050s halved 37 GW. By shifting water space 2020s reduced 15%. work provides more robust estimate demands than any previously available. predicted ramp rates, total demands, are lower previous analysts.

The addition of heat pump electricity load profiles to GB electricity demand: Evidence from a heat pump field trial

Previous studies on the effect of mass uptake of heat pumps on the capability of local or national electricity grids have relied on modelling or small datasets to create the aggregated heat pump load profile. This article uses the UK Renewable Heat Premium Payment dataset, which records the electricity consumption of nearly 700 domestic heat pump installations every 2 minutes, to create an aggr...

Title: Predicting the Energy Demand of Buildings during Triad Peaks in Gb Predicting the Energy Demand of Buildings during Triad Peaks in Gb

A model-based approach is described to forecast triad periods for commercial buildings, using a multi-staged analysis that takes a number of different data sources into account, with each stage adding more accuracy to the model. In the first stage, a stochastic model is developed to calculate the probability of having a “triad” on a daily and half-hourly basis and to generate an alert to the bu...

Demand Forecasting for Electricity

Introduction Forecasting demand is both a science and an art. Econometric methods of forecasting, in the context of energy demand forecasting, can be described as ‘the science and art of specification, estimation, testing and evaluation of models of economic processes’ that drive the demand for fuels. The need and relevance of forecasting demand for an electric utility has become a much-discuss...

Household Electricity Demand, Revisited

Recent efforts to restructure electricity markets have renewed interest in assessing how consumers respond to price changes. This paper develops a model for evaluating the effects of alternative tariff designs on residential electricity use. The model concurrently addresses several inter-related difficulties posed by nonlinear pricing, heterogeneity in consumer price sensitivity, and consumptio...

Crowdsourced Electricity Demand Forecast

We propose a new approach to forecasting the demand for a commodity in which the commodity supplier asks each consumer to forecast its own demand for the commodity and in return gives a monetary reward that is proportional to the accuracy of the forecast. Such an approach might be applicable when consumer demand for a perishable commodity is uncertain and forecast error leads to waste for produ...
